HL-CONT Plus Reverse Cruise

The Century 365 provides HL-CONT Plus River Cruise Advanced Wastewater Treatment System (AWTS) is designed to comply with Commission Directive 2012/49/EU for sewage and greywater discharge on inland waterway vessels. By combining physical and biological treatment processes, the system delivers efficient wastewater management without the use of filters or membranes.

Its modular design consists of three separate units that can be installed in different locations on board, offering greater flexibility and efficient use of available space. Existing vessel tanks may also be utilized as biological treatment modules, helping to reduce the overall system footprint.

PREPARATION: FORMING THE SEWAGE MIXTURE

HL-CONT Plus River Cruise systems are engineered to treat a combination of blackwater and greywater. These streams are collected and blended in a dedicated sewage mixing tank before entering the treatment process. Depending on the vessel's arrangement, either or both wastewater streams are directed to the mixing tank. Once the liquid reaches the specified level, the feed pump activates automatically and transfers the sewage mixture to the treatment plant.

PRE-TREATMENT

The wastewater mixture first passes through a macerator, which breaks down solid and fibrous materials into smaller particles. Using Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technology, suspended solids are separated and the levels of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biological oxygen demand (BOD) are reduced. A flocculating agent promotes the formation of sludge foam on the surface, while clarified liquid remains below. The accumulated sludge is collected in a dedicated compartment and then transferred to the vessel's sludge storage tank.

BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT

Following pre-treatment, the wastewater enters the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) section of the HL-CONT Plus River Cruise system. Under continuous aeration and controlled operating conditions, microorganisms break down organic carbon compounds present in the wastewater, improving its quality.

FINAL TREATMENT

Biological activity generates additional biomass, which is removed in a secondary DAF stage. During this process, the added flocculant also assists in phosphorus removal. The resulting treated effluent meets discharge requirements and may be released overboard where local regulations permit.

EU-Certified for Inland Navigation

The HAMANN HL-CONT Plus River Cruise Advanced Wastewater Treatment System (AWTS) is designed in accordance with Commission Directive 2012/49/EU (ES-TRIN), meeting the wastewater discharge requirements for inland waterway vessels.

Space-Efficient Design

Due to our technology and design, the footprint of HAMANN HL-CONT Plus RiverCruise advanced wastewater treatment systems (AWTS) can be significantly smaller than comparable systems from other manufacturers.

Combined Black & Grey Water Treatment

HL-CONT Plus River Cruise systems process black water and grey water together as a single sewage stream, enhancing treatment efficiency, system reliability, and environmental performance.

Easy Operation and Low Maintenance

The three-module design enables flexible installation, making it ideal for retrofit projects and vessels with limited space. Fully automatic operation and a filter- and membrane-free design ensure minimal maintenance and easy servicing.
